Unusual Eggle

Eggle.jpg

This beauty was sold to me by a dealer who had bought this and my Berlin from Patrick after he’d left Patrick Eggle guitars.

This was possibly a prototype or customer commission not collected.

I can't make out the name, which is the biggest clue - ideas would be welcome.

EDIT - Thanks to RevMatt this has been identified as Phil Norswirthy, a luthier under the employ of Patrick during the 90's.

It arrived with sperzels but without floyd rose or locking nut - although clearly routed for both.

The EMG 89's and electrics were installed as was a 3 way rotary pot.

I acquired the peavey Floyd with drop from an ex colleague at sound control and bought a locking nut.

I fitted 10's to the guitar and proceeded to set her up.

As this had seemingly never been done it took longer than anticipated to settle.

So I handed it to a fellow tech.

He came to the conclusion that the truss rod was not functioning as should be.

He reported that while it retained tension there was no way to increment this.
Therefore the tension is either on or off.

After over a year with this current set up, I conclude that she is settled in nicely and play as you’d expect.. and sounds great!

My Berlin..51 viewsHere's my other Eggle and a bit more usual.. or is it?

23 frets? and no serial!

This was obviously not up to scratch as the bridge was about a centimetre out..

I have replaced bridge and tailpiece with a pigtail wraparound which is awesome.

I'm looking at solutions to fill the holes left by the tailpiece but had to string her up and play her..

It's a wicked guitar for sure..mmmmm

Is it an EVO though?
