For Sale/Swap (Privately) / New York Plus for sale
« Last post by tallbeardy1 on Today at 13:19:40 »
I've reluctantly decided to sell my '93 New York, its the best sounding (electric) guitar I've ever owned and it plays beautifully, I just can't strum the damn thing without hitting the volume pot! I'm 6ft plus so have biggish hands and long limbs and the NY is a small guitar but I've tried to adapt a technique and failed. The Berlin would probably be better for me as the pots are further back.

That aside id like to get £400 for it and I can post it at that, it has a non eggle case and you can see pics in my coppermine gallery. I'll get a more comprehensive listing on here when I'm not at work but just wanted to get word out.

Hi Revmatt sorry didn't mean to embarrass just credit where credit was due, without your help I think I would have given up on it, thanks so much.

I'll check out the screws, springs and truss rod hopefully I'll find out where the rattle is coming from, thanks for the advice.

Alright, reign rein (thanks Tony) it in chaps, I'll get a big head!  :-[

Nice to see the pictures up here Jimax - welcome.

I've noticed that there is a rattling sound when playing on it so I think there might be some neck damage

Just check for loose screws or a bit of rattle from the trem springs as it could be something little (if it's the springs a bit of sponge wedged under can help). Alternatively I've had occasions where I've had a little rattle from a truss rod and the tiniest tweak (without significantly altering the set up) can alleviate it.

Thanks for the warm welcome wolfen, yes Revmatt is a top bloke and so helpful, he even gave me a load of information about my guitar which I hadn't realised like the early models had hand carved necks. I've recently had the chips re lacquered and although they are still noticeable it's still a good looking guitar.  I've noticed that there is a rattling sound when playing on it so I think there might be some neck damage, it still sounds good through an amp though and I'm the sure my nephew will still be pleased to receive it on his 18th.

Welcome to the forum, Jimax, and what a nice flame this one has! Yes, Matt is great and so helpful source of information. I'm not surprised that he guarded you to a sound and safe solution. You will enjoy this forum as an amazing community experience, way more personal than e.g. the PRS one.

Eggles / LA Plus, 1992, serial no. LA 11-92 215

Item no. 183276352273
Seller: jez_music
Listing ends: 24 Jun, 2018 18:32:07
Start price: £0.99

Description:
A well loved Patrick Eggle LA Standard electric guitar from 1992 in the very early days when he was still making the guitars himself with a small team in his Coventry factory.

If you're reading this you probably know how great these early guitars are so let's deal with the negatives - firstly, Cosmetically it's got a lot of knocks and dings which I've tried to show, the maple fretboard is (beautifully) stained, secondly one of the Kent Armstrong pickups has a strip of plastic missing and thirdly there's no tremelo arm.

The locking tremolo is a standard Wilkinson unit so replacement should be easy (I never use tremolo) and Kent Armstrong still make the pickups at £55 although this one still works.

On the plus side it's a rock solid and robust instrument which is set up and plays beautifully with a terrific neck. It has a maple body and neck . Nut width is 42mm. It has quality locking Sperzel tuners and the combination of maple neck and 'cool' pickups gives a clear bright tone which rocks if you turn up the gain. I've never worked out the 7 pickup combinations on the rotary switch but the toggle switch takes you straight to the bridge pickup which is very useful. The other two rotaries are volume and tone.

Despite its age fretwear is minimal.

I've had this guitar about six months but prefer a wider neck so I've not used it much.

It comes with the original Hiscox Patrick Eggle moulded hard case with all hinges and clips working perfectly.

I was told about this site by Revmatt and wanted add a post about my Patrick eggle Berlin pro. It's a 24fret 92 model. I've owned it since new and plan to give it to my nephew on his 18th birthday. It was until quite recently unplayable as I had lost the grub screws which hold the tremolo arm together and I had unsuccessfully tried to source replacement screws. Feeling that it would be impossible to get it back into working order I posted a message on thefretboard.co.uk although didn't feel confident that I would get any responses. I couldn't have been more wrong as in just a couple of hours I had received multiple responses the best of which came from Revmatt who not only provided on how to go about fixing the tremolo but also offered to sell me a replacement part which locks the bridge in place. Thanks to him I now have a working guitar which I can pass onto my nephew. I really can't express just how grateful I am for all of his help and support. Anyway I've posted some pictures of the for you to look at, unfortunately I didn't treat it well over the years and it had some knocks which chipped the lacquer, I've had this repaired as best as possible. I just hope my nephew treats it better than I did!
